Amelia - State II by rabid-potato Amelia - State II by rabid-potato
An assignment for Litho II last year, we had to do a larger-than-life portrait of one of our heroes. I was stumped for the longest time for who to draw, when I remembered how much I loved Amelia Earhart when I was younger. One exhaustive google and library search later, I could only turn up a teeny tiny little pixelated version of this photo, but I was determined to use this image because it's my all-time favorite photo of her. She just looks so happy.

This is actually the second state of this print; in the first state the background wash filled in horribly and the roll-up was all streaky and weird. I counter-etched it, redid the washes and her jacket, and tried again, with much better results. I accidentally burned out all of the shading on her face, but I kind of like the over-exposed photo look to it.

Stone lithograph, E. V., 15"x20", 14 impressions.

Ohh, it is. I have so much love for litho, as time-consuming and maddening as it can be.

Yeah, that's pretty much the vibe I got from her as well... But, I am just FASCINATED by it!

Back when I briefly attended art college, we had to do a similar project. I drew Adolf Hitler, just to spite the teachers.

Since there is no hell, probably not.

But if there was, at least I'll be there to keep you company. ^_^

All the interesting people are in hell, anyway. Dante says so, so it must be true.

There's actually a very famous philosophical play about just that topic. ( Incidentally, you can download a free audio version here [link] It might be worth a quick listen. )
